JANAKI MANDIR

The Janaki Mandir, located in Janakpur, Nepal, is one of the most significant Hindu temples dedicated to Goddess Sita (Janaki). According to Hindu mythology, Janakpur was the birthplace of Sita, and it was here that she married Lord Ram, making it a sacred pilgrimage site. The temple, built in 1911 by Queen Vrisha Bhanu of Tikamgarh, is a masterpiece of Mughal and Rajput architecture, featuring white marble domes, intricately carved pillars, and beautiful courtyards. Inside the temple, devotees can see idols of Sita, Ram, Lakshman, and Hanuman. The temple is most crowded during Vivah Panchami, an annual festival that re-enacts the divine marriage of Sita and Ram, attracting thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India. Janaki Mandir represents faith, devotion, and Nepal’s deep cultural connection to the Ramayana epic.
