CHAUKA BELNA
Chauka
Belna is a traditional kitchen tool consisting of a wooden rolling board
(Chauka) and a rolling pin (Belna). It is used in almost every Nepali household
to roll out dough for making bread like roti, puri, and chapati. The Chauka is
typically made of wood or stone, while the Belna is a cylindrical wooden pin
that is rolled back and forth over the dough. In Nepali culture, the act of
making fresh roti using a Chauka Belna is seen as a sign of homemade comfort
and care. Many families still prefer hand-rolled roti over machine-made
alternatives, valuing the traditional cooking process.
